How do I know if my watch needs servicing?
Common signs include noticeable timekeeping drift (gaining or losing more than a few seconds per day), a crown that feels stiff or gritty, visible moisture under the crystal, or a power reserve that seems shorter than usual. If your mechanical watch hasn't been opened in five or more years, a preventive check is a reasonable step even if it appears to run well.
Do you work on both quartz and mechanical watches?
Yes. Our calibration and crystal services accommodate both quartz and mechanical movements. The complete mechanical rebuild is, by nature, designed for manual-wind and automatic calibers. During your initial consultation, we'll confirm the best path for your particular movement.
How long will the service take?
Calibration typically takes two to four business days. Crystal and case renewal ranges from three to seven business days depending on the extent of work. A complete mechanical rebuild generally requires three to five weeks, as it includes a 48-hour monitoring period after reassembly. We provide a more precise timeline after assessing your watch in person.
Can I visit the workshop to see the work in progress?
We welcome workshop visits by appointment. The service area is climate-controlled and requires limited foot traffic, so we ask that you schedule ahead. We are happy to walk you through the process and show you any observations about your watch's condition.
What happens if additional issues are discovered during service?
We pause and contact you. If our initial assessment uncovers something beyond the agreed scope — a worn gear train or a hairline crack in the mainplate, for instance — we'll explain the finding, the recommended action, and the cost before moving forward. You are always in control of the decision.
Is there a consultation fee before committing to a service?
An initial visual assessment and conversation about your watch's needs carry no charge. If diagnostic equipment time is required for a deeper evaluation (for example, opening the caseback and testing under magnification), we will let you know beforehand and discuss any applicable diagnostic fee.
